Description
Millions of people descend on Allahabad every twelve years for the world's largest spiritual festival, the Kumbhla Mela. In this fine art photograph, a train filled with arriving pilgrims crosses the Ganges river, while in the background, thousands are crossing pontoon bridges on foot. Over a three-month period, more than 60 million people come to take a purifying dip at Prayag, the confluence of the Ganges and the Yamuna rivers.
