Description
This placed in an art competition at the Art League of Ocean City. The juror commented: "This is an excellent composition and shows where the "rule of thirds" may not work. THe centering of the dragonfly works and is not static in an emotional sense because of the surrounding colors that are beautifully rendered soft and enhance the vision. The far left third is purple, as is the end of the tail. The upward flow of the wings matches the vertical movement of the background leaves that provide a soft, non-competing background. The brighter parts do not overwhelm. All lead the eye to the tack-sharp subject.
