Description
In this scenic seascape, a beautiful morning sunrise greets triathletes as they emerge from the Atlantic ocean at the end of their swimming event.
Triathlons are such demanding events. At the beaches in Delaware, a triathlon consists of swimming, biking and running. The swimming portion is held first, as it is potentially the most dangerous. Many athletes are not accustomed to swimming in the ocean, with its waves and sometimes cooler than normal temperatures.
The day of this event, the waves were rough. I overheard the head lifeguard telling the other guards that the first wave of swimmers are the best triathletes, and few will need help. But by the time the third and less experienced swimmers come, "We'll be pulling them out right and left."
This is a great fine art photograph for any sports-lover. With its beautiful sunrise and beach scene, it is a wonderful reminder of the incredible joy and beauty of sports in the great outdoors.
