Each year, millions of Hindus make a pilgrimage to the sacred city of Varanasi to enjoy a purifying bath in the holy waters of the Ganges. The word ghat means a bathing location where a dip in the Ganges river is of easy access.
In Varanasi, many outdoor tea stalls line the steps leading down to the bathing ghats. They offer delicious cups of tea to Hindus as they prepare to perform their ablutions to the Ganges river.
This fine art photograph placed fourth in the People at Work contest sponsored by the Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery group.
