Description
The beautiful Himalayas are the highest mountains in the world, with many peaks topping 20,000 feet. These snow capped peaks are so awe-inspiring, that they are known in India as the "Home of the Gods". I took this mountain landscape panorama while standing at 8,000 feet in the Uttarkashi region. I was looking northwest into the Bandurpunch mountain range. The word Bandurpunch means the tail of the monkey Hanuman. This mountain group, with its winding peaks resembles a monkey tail. According to the Vedas, when his wife Sita was abducted, Lord Ram had to resort to monkeys and the bears for help in rescuing her. Hanuman was the lead monkey in the rescue efforts. I have some beautiful color photos of these magnificent mountains, but in this case, the use of black and white adds to the stark and surreal beauty and power of these snow swept mountains. This breathtaking black and white photograph will add a spiritual dimension to your home or office.
