In the center of historic Georgetown in Washington, D.C., Georgetown Mall is full of exquisite shops and eateries that cater to tourists and local residents. While out of town visitors might not think of a shopping mall as a tourist attraction, a brief stop at this beautiful indoor mall is worth the visit. Be sure to step outside on the lower level. You will discover yourself at the edge of the C&O canal. A failed attempt to connect the Ohio River valley with the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, this remnant of the canal graces this area of the nation's capital with wonderful scenic views.
