Description
Blanket Dance Finish depicts Native American women exchanging greetings at the end of the dance. This fine art photograph placed in an art contest at the Art League of Ocean City. The show judge noted:
"The brightly colored clothing is what first brings your attention to this photograph of Native American women and girls of the Nanticoke tribe. They are standing close together in a circle with all their attention towards the middle of the circle. We are viewing the scene from outside the circle, behind the girls. While we can't see what they are doing, and it looks to be a show, what strikes me most is the wonderful and tender mood. Here are women of all ages lovingly performing a dance, sharing some sacred ceremony with great meaning."
This beautiful dance was part of the annual Nanticoke Powwow in Delaware.
