Description
This spectacular photograph of arctic terns flying at sunset over the Ganges River has a fascinating story. According to local lore, arctic terns arrive in large numbers only once every twelve years, during the Kumbhla Mela. This event is the world's largest spiritual festival. Legend says that these beautiful birds arrive the day before the most auspicious day of the festival and depart the day after. I attended the 2013 Kumbh, and I have to say, I witnessed this amazing scene take place. Mother Nature has her ways. The vibrant color of this scenic photo will add colour to any home or office wall.
